Grace Church - Current Mission Opportunities

Monthly Mission Food Drive

Help support the Urban Ministry Food Bank! This month (October) we will be collecting dried beans in 1lb. bags or larger sizes. Dried beans are a great source of protein and easy to store. Stop by the grocery store this week and bring your favorites next Sunday and drop them in one of our collection bins at either the east entrance of the sanctuary building or in Graceful Grounds. By the way last month we collected 76 lbs. of macaroni and cheese. Thanks for supporting this project.

Soldier Care Packages-Christmas Campaign

During the months of October and November, we will once again prepare boxes of goodies for our soldiers overseas. Boxes are located in Graceful Grounds and in the sanctuary building. Each box has an instruction sheet with a list of suggested items. Also included is a card to sign and send if you wish. In order to pay for shipping, a check for $9.80 is requested. Make your checks payable to Grace United Methodist Church with "soldier care package" in the memo line. Fill your box and return it by Sunday, November 30th.

If you would like to help in the packaging and delivery to the post office or have questions please contace Emily or Sue Hudson at 375-7351.

Blessed Table Food Pantry and Clothing Thrift Shop

Circle 2 and the Faith Fellowship Class have joined forces to take on a new mission emphasis for 2008 and 2009.  These groups will assist The Blessed Table Food Pantry and Thrift Shop at Bessemer United Methodist Church in Greensboro.

The church sells donated clothing which is donated to the Thrift Shop for as little as $1.00 per item.  The proceeds from these sales are then used to purchase food which is given to those who are referred to the food pantry by the urban ministry and other social service agencies.

The Thrift shop is in need of clothing donations, however, the biggest need right now is for good used children’s clothing of all sizes, especially warm sweaters and jackets.

Collection points for clothing donations will be set up in the Grace Church chapel, and in Graceful Grounds.

Your help is greatly needed, especially during this time of year, and during the tough economic climate we are now facing as a community and a country.

If you have questions, or need a receipt for your donations please contact Audrey Boyd at 273-0771, Betsy Gresham at 294-3677, or Lito Lewallen at 665-0213.
