Grace Church - Current Mission Opportunities

Habitat for Humanity Mission Trip Slidell, LA,

February 7-14, 2010

Join Grace Church as we travel with a group from Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro to Slidell, Louisianna February 7-14th 2010. During this week long trip we will help build houses for those still suffereing the effects of Hurrican Katrina. All skill levels are encouraged to attend. It won't be all work, time will be set aside to visit New Orleans to see some of the sights there.

 

Blessed Table Food Pantry and Clothing Thrift Shop

Circle 2 and the Faith Fellowship Class have joined forces to take on a new mission emphasis for 2008 and 2009.  These groups will assist The Blessed Table Food Pantry and Thrift Shop at Bessemer United Methodist Church in Greensboro.

The church sells donated clothing which is donated to the Thrift Shop for as little as $1.00 per item.  The proceeds from these sales are then used to purchase food which is given to those who are referred to the food pantry by the urban ministry and other social service agencies. 

The Thrift shop is in need of clothing donations, however, the biggest need right now is for good used children’s clothing of all sizes, especially warm sweaters and jackets.

Collection points for clothing donations will be set up in the Grace Church chapel, and in Graceful Grounds.

Your help is greatly needed, especially during this time of year, and during the tough economic climate we are now facing as a community and a country.
